Incident 2022-00008293 Wild Fire

3/18/2022 @ 15:26, Dept 5 Crary Hose , Dept 6 Knoxville, Dept 16 Clymer, Dept 17 Chatham was dispatched to 1118 Broughton Rd, Westfield Township to the scene of a wild fire. Crary Hose Squad 5-18 hauling UTV Rescue 5-28, Patrol 5-4 and Tanker 5-5 responded, as did Clymer Partol 16-4 and their 6-Wheeler. First arriving units were not able to see smoke from the fire, but residents on-scene reported the location of the wild fire on top of the hill. Two UTVs from Crary Hose and Clymer made their way to the top of the hill with manpower, water and tools. Once at the fireground, crews found that approximately 1.5 acers of open grassland on top of the hill had been burnt with no extension into the woods around it. The landowners had been doing their best to control the fire. Arriving units aided them with extinguishment, containing the fire to the small field in which it had started, and wetting down any hot spots found. The quick action by the landowners and responders made it possible to hold and eventually recall Depts 6 and 17.

Thank you to all units that responded.
