08/16/2022 @ 11:36, Crary Hose, Clymer Hose, Knoxville-Deerfield and Sabinsville Ambulance were dispatched to 2152 California Rd, Brookfield Township, to the scene of a reported vehicle fire. Engine 5-3/Chief 5-20 Heyler responded with a crew of 4 at 11:43, followed closely by Tanker 5-5 with crew of 2. Knoxville’s Tanker 6-5 and Engine 6-2 responded, as well as Fire Police from both Dept 5 and 6. Chief 5 additionally requested Harrison Dept 20 with a tanker due to dry conditions. Chief 5-30 Mack arrived on-scene at 11:46, confirming the vehicle fire and provided a size-up to incoming units and established Brookfield Command. A tractor/trailer hauling hay had caught fire, and that the fire had been contained to the tractor’s engine compartment and cab by the driver and a bystander. Engine 5-3 arrived on-scene at 11:50, at which time all units not on-scene were recalled. Crews stretched the bumper line, stabilized the vehicle, and fully extinguish the fire, checking for remaining hotspots using thermal imaging. The fire was declared under control at 11:56 and all Dept 5 units returned available by 12:30.
