Incident 2021-00043940: Structure Fire, Brookfield Township

Dept 5 Crary Hose, Dept 16 Clymer Township and Dept 26 Sabinsville Ambulance were dispatched 12/31/2021 at 18:36 to 1988 California Rd, Brookfield Township to the scene of a structure fire, reported house fire with possible entrapment. Chief 5 arrived on-scene and reported a working structure fire, double-wide trailer fully involved and established Brookfield Command. A second alarm was immediately stuck and additional tanker support from Dept 6 Knoxville-Deerfield, Dept 17 Chatham Township, and Dept 20 Harrison Township was requested. Dept 3 Elkland was requested for RIT assignment. A tanker fill site was established at the pond adjacent to Sylvester Quality Meats.

Engine 5-3 arrived with a crew of 4 and quickly put a hoseline into service to attempt to knock down the blaze near the inhabitable area of the structure to enable a search, but was quickly met with prohibitively adverse fire and structural conditions which prevented any further interior operations. Chief 5 called for a defensive attack. A second hoseline was put into service as crews arrived from Dept 16 Clymer Township, Dept 17 Chatham Township, Dept 6 Knoxville-Deerfield and Dept 20 Harrison Township. Additional efforts were made to visually search the remaining structure as exterior operations began to darken the fire. Thankfully no inhabitants were found in the structure.

Extinguishment and overhaul efforts continued, with the fire being declared out at 20:13. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Cover assignments for Depts 5, 6, 16 and 20 were handled by Dept 47 Tri Town (Ulysses), Dept 14 Osceola Township, Dept 10 Goodyear Hose (Galeton) and Whitesville Fire, respectively.

Thank you to all who responded and volunteered your time on New Year’s Eve. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to those affected by this fire.
