Dept 5 Responds to Multiple Auto Alarm Activations

Crary Hose responded to 4 automatic alarm calls during the period spanning 4/7/24 and 4/8/24 at the Mountain Laurel Recovery Center, 355 Church St Westfield Borough. These alarm activations are from an undetermined cause, but are suspected to be due to malfunctioning equipment. Regardless of the cause, our volunteers responded to each call as professionals, packing up and performing a thorough investigation of the area around the alarming sensors and making sure that the facility is safe at every alarm activation. Each activation must be treated as legitimate and dealt with as if we are responding to a working fire. Chief 5 has been in contact with Mountain Laurel management, who has scheduled a service call with their alarm provider. We will work together with MLRC to maintain a safe environment for their residents and employees while their vendor resolves this issue.

Thank you to all Dept 5 firefighters who have responded to each of these incidents. We take pride in our professionalism, and it shows.
