Goal: Establish a local live burn training center that will provide training opportunities to ANY AND ALL area firefighters.
Motivations:
- Lack of realistic, local live burn training is a direct threat to the health and safety of our firefighters and our community
- To support our mission of providing professional-grade fire protection services, we must train like the pros
- Multiple members in our department who lack live fire training and could directly benefit now
- Lack of dedicated space in our current facility for all types of physical training/simulations
Project Status: Building has been ordered, delivery expected September 2025. Site preparation in progress.
Fundraising Progress: State grant funding secured. Seeking funding from county and local sources, fellow fire departments and organizations, and private/individual donors.
Background:
Upon purchase of 8 acres of land at the old Tannery property, our members instantly thought that this would be an excellent opportunity to provide our firefighters, our mutual aid partners, and all area firefighters with a facility to train on vital skills. The company charged the Building and Grounds Committee with seeking grant funding for such a project. On July 17th, 2024, we were notified that we were awarded $100,000 from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner to go towards the purchase of a training facility, which locked in our ability to make this happen.
