2020/2019 Crary Hose Awards Banquet

On Saturday, August 7th 2021, Crary Hose Company held it’s annual Awards Banquet at the Westfield Community Building. Our great friend, fellow firefighter, instructor and Leek Dip magnate Ryane Rumsey served as Master of Ceremonies. The evening started off with a social hour, followed by dinner from Caterer Peggy Bebout McFall and masterfully smoked beef brisket from Sylvester Quality Meats. The evening was capped off with the awards ceremony for years 2019 and 2020. PA Representative Clint Owlett, Chief 5 William Goltz, President Andrew Adams, Fire Captain Mike James, and “Tanker” Dave Earle presented the following awards:

2019 Top 5 Responders : Gary Bisel, Matthew Reed, Andrew Adams, Kyle Mack, Steven Brubaker
2019 EMS Provider of the Year : Brent Skelton
2019 Firefighter of the Year : Matthew Reed
2019 Chief’s Award : Matthew Reed
2019 Service Recognitions: Stanley Brubaker, 40 Years of Service
2020 Top 5 Responders : David Earle, Steven Brubaker, Andrew Adams, Gary Bisel, Brooke Swimley
2020 Rookie of the Year : Matthew Barber
2020 EMS Provider of the Year : Brooke Swimley
2020 Firefighter of the Year: William Goltz
2020 Chief’s Award : Steven Brubaker
2020 Service Recognitions: Todd Streeter, 20 Years of Service, earning Lifetime Member Status
2020 Community Citizen of the Year: Stanley Taft

In addition, Tanker Dave Earle presented Chief 5 William Goltz with his very own Chief’s Car. Budgetary constraints being what they are, it had to be a 1:43 scale model!

One of the members receiving awards was unable to attend due to a family matter. In true firefighter fashion, the members fired up the trucks, hit the lights and sirens and formed a parade to take the party to Matthew Reed’s house to present his awards. The fire service isn’t a job, it is a family.

Music and refreshments were served after the awards. It was a wonderful evening and a much-deserved pause to celebrate our members and all they do.

Thank you to all of our members and their significant others for an excellent year, one full of challenge and opportunity. Thank you to our leadership for skillfully navigating 2020. Thanks to our team we not only survived the pandemic, but we thrived despite it. A great debt of gratitude is due to our supportive community as well for helping us help others. We would fail without your financial support.

Thank you to our mutual aid partners Neal Potter (Chief 20 Harrison Valley), Todd Swimley (Chief 16 Clymer Twp), and Steve Baker (2nd Asst Chief 37-20 Genesee) for attending

Special thanks to Ryane Rumsey, PA Representative Clint Owlett and Mrs. Lauren Owlett, Westfield Borough Councilmember Roxanne Wiedman, Sue Adams Streeter, Sheila Bills Clark, Tanker Dave Earle, Andy Adams, Todd Streeter, Matt Reed, Peggy Bebout McFall, Rick Mead and Sylvester Quality Meats, Rainbow Rose, IJB Awards, and Barber’s Firearms.
